TDS Reforged Voidcore Mode Guide

Voidcore is the hardest game mode in TDS: Reforged. It lives inside the Hardcore elevator alongside standard Hardcore, but the rules are significantly harsher. You must first clear standard Hardcore to unlock it. The mode rewards Gems instead of Coins, and it is the only playlist where a shrine can appear after the final boss—Wave 50—when the Void Reaver and Void Caster fall.

Prerequisites and unlock

Before you queue Voidcore, you must triumph standard Hardcore mode at least once. This is not a soft recommendation—it is a hard gate. The Voidcore elevator only appears after a successful Hardcore clear. Universe metadata confirmed Voidcore as part of the v2.0.0 rework on 5 June 2026, alongside the introduction of the Juggernaut evolved tower.

What makes Voidcore harder than Hardcore

Voidcore shares the death-reset mechanic with standard Hardcore, but the enemy density, boss HP pools, and economy pressure are all elevated. The mode runs to Wave 50 (versus Wave 45 for Hardcore), and every wave between 11 and 50 introduces escalating Shrine costs if you choose to activate them.

Key differences from standard Hardcore:

  • 50 waves instead of 45, with a harder finale
  • Void Reaver on Wave 50 (not Wave 45)
  • Void Caster accompanies the finale
  • Shrine system active: random shrines appear every 10 waves starting Wave 11, costing $400 and escalating
  • Gems as the primary reward instead of Coins
  • Coins are still earnable upon successful completion—unlike standard Hardcore

Shrine mechanics in Voidcore

Starting on Wave 11, a random Shrine statue emerges from the ground at a random map location every 10 waves (Waves 11, 21, 31, 41). The server shows a UI notification and chat message when one appears.

You may activate the shrine for $400, which increases by $200 each time a new shrine spawns. If a Shrine is not activated within 5 waves, it disappears until the next shrine cycle. After defeating the Void Reaver and Void Caster on Wave 50, a new Shrine can still spawn—a quirk where the game is technically over but the shrine system continues.

Shrine choices affect economy. Skipping shrines preserves cash for tower upgrades; activating them provides temporary buffs that may help with the escalating wave density.

Boss lineup

Void Keeper (mini-boss, Waves 15, 25, 35, 45): The Void Keeper—internally called Void Grave Digger—is a high-HP mini-boss with fast movement speed. It has four abilities:

  • Shovel: digs up rocks that deal contact damage
  • Speed Boost: permanently or temporarily increases movement speed
  • Secondary Speed Boost: additional speed acceleration
  • Phase behavior: phases through tower targeting at low HP

Counters: bring consistent single-target DPS and do not rely solely on slow effects. The Void Keeper’s speed boosts can make it reach your backline quickly.

Void Reaver (final boss, Wave 50): The defining boss of Voidcore mode. It has a massive HP pool and multiple attack phases. Position your strongest single-target carry—Enforcer, Executioner, or a fully-funded Golden Minigunner—before Wave 50 begins. Do not attempt to sell and rebuild during the fight.

Void Caster (Wave 50 accompaniment): Spawns alongside the Void Reaver on the finale. This enemy type adds additional pressure to your布局. Prioritize the Void Caster if your slows cannot keep both contained.

Economy in Voidcore

Unlike standard Hardcore (Gems only) or Molten Mode (kill-based Coins), Voidcore blends both reward structures. Gems are the primary reward, but successful completion also grants Coins. The economy pressure comes from the escalating shrine costs and the fact that you cannot bank aggressively—Voidcore’s pace demands early tower investment.

Loadout for Voidcore

Voidcore demands a complete five-slot plan with no weak links:

  1. Early lane holder — cheap, reliable DPS for waves 1–15
  2. Economy / support — funds the spike without delaying your carry
  3. Control — Slowing Towers to manage Void Keeper speed boosts
  4. Sustained DPS — Golden Minigunner or equivalent for extended fights
  5. Boss carry — Enforcer or Executioner for the Void Reaver finale

Do not bring glass cannons. The Void Keeper’s speed phases and the Void Reaver’s long fight duration punish fragile builds.

Solo versus co-op

Voidcore is playable solo or in co-op (maximum 3 players, the same cap as Hardcore). Solo requires you to cover all five roles. Co-op allows specialization: one player handles economy, one handles control, and the third focuses on damage.

If you play co-op, communicate the shrine activation decision before each shrine wave. One player’s economy call affects everyone’s timing.

Video study

The embedded TDS News video explains the mode’s structure and design intent. Watch once for context, then study the Solo Hardcore guide for pacing discipline that transfers to Voidcore.

How Voidcore compares to other modes

  • Solo Hardcore — baseline for all Hardcore variants; Voidcore is significantly harder
  • Enraged Mode — adds pressure within standard wave count; Voidcore extends and intensifies
  • Molten Mode — fixed 35-wave structure; Voidcore runs to 50 with harder bosses
  • Polluted Core — toxin/wasteland theme; different enemy composition
  • Casino Mode — rule variance; Voidcore is pure difficulty

After patches

When Live Status or Patch Notes move, re-test one Voidcore attempt to confirm boss HP and shrine timing still match your loadout. The Void Keeper’s speed abilities and the Void Reaver’s phase transitions are the most likely points of change.

Voidcore is a commitment. Clear standard Hardcore cleanly five times before attempting it. Build the habit of logging leak waves and changing one slot at a time—those habits are what prevent failure in Voidcore’s 50-wave gauntlet.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock Voidcore mode?

You must clear standard Hardcore mode at least once. The Voidcore elevator only appears in the lobby after a successful Hardcore clear.

How is Voidcore different from standard Hardcore?

Voidcore runs to Wave 50 (not 45), features the Void Reaver and Void Caster on Wave 50, includes the Shrine system, rewards Gems primarily, and is significantly harder in enemy density and boss HP.

What are shrines in Voidcore?

Starting on Wave 11, a random shrine appears every 10 waves. You can activate it for $400 (escalating by $200 each time). Unactivated shrines disappear after 5 waves.

What is the Void Reaver?

The final boss of Voidcore mode, appearing on Wave 50 alongside the Void Caster. It has a massive HP pool and multiple attack phases.

Can I play Voidcore in co-op?

Yes, with up to 3 players. Coordinate shrine decisions and role assignments (economy, control, damage) before queueing.

What towers counter the Void Keeper?

Consistent single-target DPS. The Void Keeper's speed boosts make it reach backline towers quickly, so position accordingly and do not rely solely on slows.

What rewards do I get from Voidcore?

Gems are the primary reward. Unlike standard Hardcore, you also earn Coins upon successful completion.

Can a shrine appear after the final boss?

Yes. A shrine can still spawn on Wave 50 after defeating the Void Reaver and Void Caster, even though the run is technically over at that point.
